Sustainability – A basic premise for everything we do

To succeed with a long-term business strategy, our commitment to sustainable development is an important component. We are confident that aligning our operations and strategies to UN’s sustainability goals will be beneficial both for our investors, our customers and for the environment.

Aibel has a long history of adjusting its business in line with changing markets and has already established the company in the offshore wind industry.

Whilst the upstream oil and gas industry segment will remain Aibel’s core market for many years, we are in parallel developing solutions for the renewable energy sector, thus adapting our core competence to a low carbon future.

Aibel has in recent years established strong references in the European offshore wind market, having delivered the DolWin Beta platform, one of the largest wind power converter stations offshore Germany, converting more than 900MW of green electricity. We also supported Equinor in its Hywind Scotland floating wind power project, from design of the floating wind turbine substructures through to installation and commissioning support.

In 2019, Aibel was awarded two new major offshore wind contracts for the DolWin 5 project and the world's largest offshore wind farm at Dogger Bank, respectively. The project awards clearly demonstrate Aibel’s position as a preferred supplier in the market for transmission projects in the offshore wind industry.

The growing offshore wind market may provide Aibel and our partners many opportunities in months, years and decades to come, and Aibel will continue to develop attractive solutions to the renewable energy segment in parallel with the oil and gas business.
